Sometimes a cupcake can fix everything…
I took the girls shopping for backpacks the other day. (For Madison and McKenzie, they are “High School” backpacks which makes me throw up a bit in my mouth.)
After a couple of false starts, we ended up at TJ Maxx where we found the cutest backpacks. And while each of the girls was picking out the perfect backpack…
Madison had a seizure.
A big one.
In the middle of the store.
(Have I mentioned that we can be a bit of a circus when we go out?)
Because of the seizure she had some problems and we ended up needing to get some clean clothes. So we bought some clothes from our good friends at TJ Maxx and went to the bathroom to change.
And I was fine through all of it until I saw my friend Cheryl, who happened to be at the store at the same time Madison, had the seizure, and then I just fell apart. Like ugly face crying falling apart.
In the middle of the TJ Maxx…
Cheryl has known Madison for a long time and was just as kind as can be to us.
Then later that night, that hot sticky “it would be great to just stay at the house and wallow in the air conditioning night” that Cheryl came over to the house with a box five of the most beautiful cupcakes I have ever seen. Fancy designs and frosting piled up to the sky and a beautiful ribbon holding the kindest note to the box.
And she just wanted to make sure I was ok. And that Madison was ok. And she told me some things in the card that were exactly the reminders I needed that day.
Amazing what a kind friend and cupcake can do to change your day.
